How we check your documents

Who: Bike Connectors (Pty) Ltd (info@bikeconnectors.co.za). We use VerifyNow, a South African verification company, which checks your details with the Department of Home Affairs and the banks.

Why: to confirm who you are, that you may ride a motorbike, that the bank account for the debit order is yours, and that the payments fit your income, before we rent or sell you a bike. We also must know who has each bike for traffic fines.

What: your name and WhatsApp number, your ID, passport or permit number, a selfie, the barcode on your driver's licence, your bank account details, your proof of address and your statements. The selfie is biometric information: we only compare it with your ID photo and check it shows a real person, with your consent, and we don't keep it.

What we keep: the results of the checks. Photos of a passport or permit, your statements, and a delivery-app screenshot if you send one, are deleted 30 days after we decide. If we don't go ahead, or you don't finish, we delete everything after 90 days.

Your rights: you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object, by emailing info@bikeconnectors.co.za. You may complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

A person decides: if a check doesn't pass, a person at Bike Connectors looks at it. We never turn you down by computer alone.
